Domestic Violence affects approximately one million people in the in the US every year and 85% of victims are women. Prince George’s County currently experiences one of the highest rates of domestic violence in the state and nation.

Our Advocacy Team works to achieve the goals of Zonta International in our global, national, state and county communities

Zonta Club of Prince George’s County Area participates in federal, state and local legislative issues that affect the status of women.  We volunteer on legislative forums, caucus with local administrators and partner with the Maryland Network Against Domestic Violence. (https://mnadv.org)

We continue to work with agencies and organizations that combat violence against women, child marriage and human trafficking in our communities. As partners with the Prince George’s County Domestic and Human Trafficking Division & Family Justice Center, we promote programs to educate our community to seek domestic violence resources and referrals by calling 211.

Our advocacy team is a vital community partner of the Prince George’s Network of resources including the Family Justice Center, the Sheriff’s Domestic Violence Intervention Program, The Family Crisis Center and the Prince George’s County Domestic Violence Task Force.
